This is my German friend Elmi. He is alot of fun. We ran into him at J-bay. His car (Elle) got in a car accident on the way there and it was a hilarious story.
This is all the girls from the group that went to J-Bay.

This is me surfing! That was me pumping my arms in celebration.

J-Bay

This weekend a group of 11 of us headed to Jeffery's Bay. We stayed at the Island Vibe in a dorm for 12 people without a lock on it.... (crazy) It was alot of fun. On friday we went Sandboarding and that was a ton of fun. I didnt even fall too many times. Brady would have loved it! The beach by where we went was so pretty. Then on saturday morning, at 9 we had surfing lessons with Martin. I learned alot and even learned how to surf because I got up several times (that was unexpected). I think Martin was even a bit impressed. We spent the whole day at the beach and then went out for dinner that night. After that we hung out at the bar with the Germans and some boys from St. Cloud that we know from Annies Cove and of course our surf instuctor and ended up staying up until 4;30 just chatting it up with the locals. Man. those German guys like their Beer.

This week it was back to classes. But next week we are going to Cape-Town and hitting some stops on the Garden route on our way back. I really have no ideas of any details of what we are going to be doing so I am just going to home for the best. But, I will be bungie jumping (if I can afford it).

By the way, I found out that you can send me packages or letters to:

Alex Haider Flat 11
Langarry Flats
31 Beach Road
Humewood, Port Elizabeth 6001
South Africa

If you do decide to send me something. Send it soon because I have no idea when I am going to get it. Grandma, Gina, Cheryl, Cubby's Parents, Mom Dad and Brady should be getting postcards sometime from me. I sent them awhile ago but you never know about things in SA.
If anyone else would like me to send them a post card just send me your adress. I only had those ones when I left.
Anywho, when I load some pictures on my computer I will put them up!
I have some sweet photos of the place we stayed and me surfing.

Sorry Everyone!

Hey I am really sorry that I have not been good about writing on here. But, it is for good reason. I am in Africa where the internet sucks and usually I cannot get Blogger to load. So thats why. I send my mom emails ever so often so if you ask her most likely she might have information about what I am doing.
Well this week we had classes which are 3 hours long and I am still not used to that. Especially when the teachers talk the whole time. It is super easy to fall asleep.
On tuesday though I got to go to Pendla which is in the New Brighton township in PE and I teach in a second grade classroom. This week we did names in English and taught them how to ask what someone's name is. That picture is of some of the kids in my class. I dont know if I will ever be able to say some of their names.
The other picture is from Tisikamma a place that we went last weekend. It was super pretty as you can see from the picture. We also went zip-lining at the backpackers that we stayed at.
This weekend I am heading to J-Bay and hopefully I will be doing some cool stuff like sandboarding and surfing. I will try to post again when I get back. The internet seems to be getting better then it was before.

Addo and Scotia

This week was my first week of classes. On monday I went to Pendla which is a primary school in the New Brighton Township. I helped in Sisi's 2nd year class room. I basically just played with the kids all day. None of them can really understand me though becuase they don't know very much english yet. They all speak Xhoisa (the clicking language) I am trying my best to learn a little bit to tell them good job and be quiet when I am in the class room. I also had a music class and literature class and a political science class. We didn't do much in them this week.
But on friday we went to Addo Elephant park and Scotia game reserve all day. It was alot of fun we got to ride on safari trucks and look at a ton of animals. We also had some delicious meals as well. Kate, Giff and I got seperated from the rest of our group and did the tour with a student from UBC in Vancouver, Canada and a family from switzerland and Israel. It was interesting to say the least. Our tour guide Malcom was great and his brother owns scotia.
Then this saturday some of my roommmates and I took a cab to Seaview to go play with some lion cubs. That was alot of fun too. They were like my kitties at home just alot bigger and I am sure they can actually hurt me.
I cant get any pictures to load on here at the moment because our internet sucks. So if you ask my Mom I think she can send you a link for my facebook album.

My first 12 days in SA

Sorry that I have not written on here for a few weeks.

I am in fact in South Africa safe and sound.

The reason why I have not been posting on my blog is that we really have not had internet until now and when we did get it, it was not fast enough for us to blog on it. Everything takes about 10x as much time that it would take in the states. Everyone here just does things at their own pace. We call it South African time.

The first week we got here was kind of hectic since we didn't really know anything and Kate and I were the only ones here other than our professor but she was out most of the day. We spent the week hanging out at the beach and trying to get food and other things that we forgot.

One day that week we ended up going to Kragga Gamma a game park right outside PE. That was pretty neat we saw a bunch of the big 5.

We also we have been to "Tobys" or Toby Joes several times since we have been here. Some of our friends who are living in Annies Cove meet us there with some of the locals and we have a really good time dancing to some AWESOME Techno music.
Picture #1 is from the beach that is right outside our flats (kings beach)
Picture #2 is Kate, Peter and I enjoying Jam jars (4 shots of I have no idea and fresh juice) (best if shared with many people) They are from a local resturant called Primi.

5 days to go

Hey Everyone!

I have 5 days to go before I leave. I am just trying to get everything together before sunday night. I want to let everyone know I am going to Port Elizabeth, South Africa which is about a few hours away from Cape Town. I am going to be staying in the Langarry Flats.

Langerry Holiday Flats

31 Beach Road, Humewood, Port Elizabeth 6001

South Africa
Phone (from the US): 011-27-41-585-2652

There is an 8 hour difference and the only way you are ever going to be getting ahold of me is by using skype.

We are going to be moving into the flats about a week after we get there. So most likely I wont have internet until then. Sorry.

Also just to let you know... It would be easier for me to answer you back on here since I get so many emails. Underneath the posts there is a place where you can comment.
By the way I added the Photo because Laura (dark hair) Kate (Center) are both coming with me to South Africa!
